Deanna Tham is currently the Assistant Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony and Music Director of the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestras. She also holds the position of Assistant Conductor and Pops Conductor with the Union Symphony Orchestra, and is the appointed Assistant Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra (NYO-USA) for summer of 2019. She was previously Music Director of the Louisville Youth Orchestra in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Assistant Conductor at the Chicago Sinfonietta. She is a regular guest conductor with groups all over the United States, including Ballet Idaho and Opera Idaho. She has studied with Carl Topilow at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Dr. Mallory Thompson at Northwestern University, and worked with other renown conductors such as Marin Alsop, James Ross, Victor Yampolsky, Kenneth Kiesler, and Richard Rosenberg . Previously, she was resident music director of the American Chamber Opera, based in Chicago, Illinois. Her work with the company has included a groundbreaking semi-staged production of Mendelssohn's oratorio, Elijah, and Mozart's Don Giovanni, staged in English.
Tham received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University in Horn Performance. Recent News
